About Malinda Kopec
I am a mixed media artist and jewelry designer. I also create some home decor every now and then. Admittedly I'm all over the board but I have to DO what moves me in the MOMENT! I just can't say "I'm an artist and I need to do mixed media today" I wake up and say "Hmmmm, what do I feel like creating today?" I do love to paint abstracts and stylized portraits as much as I love creating Swarovski crysal drop earrings or an Egyptian style choker.
I live with my fun and witty husband Joe, and two cats and a dog in Michigan where I spent my childhood growing up. I feel lucky to have grown up in 'the country' where playing allowed our imaginations to grow wild! My creativity bloomed when playing 'camp' when we would make little homes outside and have to gather wood for fires and go through the old dump to find treasures such as chipped plates and old pans to pretend eat and cook on!
I have had a creative streak since I can remember and at first I was a real perfectionist when coloring in my little book. I remember vividly the day I decided to color outside the lines! I felt that Sleeping Beauty needed a flower in her hair so I just drew one in with my crayon and continued on my way. I loved art class and was always drawing or doodling something. It has been my life's dream to be able to create for others who would appreciate the beauty of handmade articles vs. mass production pieces. You can rest assured when you purchase one of my items that a lot of love and that all that childhood perfectionism has went into every step of the creation process.
Luckily for me, I enjoy photography and really have fun photographing my items. I'm still learning and hope to be able to be very proud of my photos one day soon!
I hope you enjoy my items and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me!
